Everything you need to know about Amazon Prime Day laptop deals and sales
Prime Day 2021 lands next week with the Prime Day 2021 dates officially set for June 21 and June 22 (Monday and Tuesday), and with it is coming plenty of amazing Prime Day laptop deals. Whether you’re looking to buy yourself a budget-friendly Windows laptop or Chromebook, or you’re planning on splurging on a premium device (a 4K laptop or a high-end 2-in-1, perhaps), there are going to be plenty of awesome Prime Day laptop sales out there that will have something to scratch your itch. Read on as we lay out what you can expect to see, what Prime Day laptop deals we saw on tap last year, and whether or not you should buy one during this sale or wait until later.
Prime Day is generally a great time to snap up a new laptop (or anything tech-related, really). While Amazon’s offerings are arguably not quite as great value as Black Friday deals, other retailers also offer their own Prime Day laptop deals and this still tends to be among the best times of the year to to upgrade your tech — and easily the best time to do so during the summer months if you don’t feel like waiting until late November for the post-Thanksgiving holiday sales.
You can expect most major brands to feature heavily in the Prime Day laptop sales. That means big discounts on the likes of all things Asus, Acer, HP, and Lenovo, with high-end devices like the MacBook Air and Microsoft Surface laptops likely to see price cuts as well. If you’re looking for great Prime Day laptop deals on Chromebooks, we think you’ll be in luck, too, with Chromebooks continuing to be massively popular among those that want a straightforward, portable, and cheap laptop.
Last year, there were great Prime Day laptop sales across the board. Prime Day 2020 saw the latest MacBook Air at $150 less than usual. However, the vast majority of Prime Day laptop deals tend to be on Windows laptops and Chromebooks thanks to there being so much more choice out there.
We expect to see discounts on pretty much all types of laptops. That includes gaming laptops, cheap workhorse computers, and even some ultra-slim laptops and 2-in-1 ultrabook-style devices. The biggest discounts will be on slightly older last-generation models but don’t be surprised if you see the newer stuff at the lowest prices too for a limited time (so be ready to act fast).
If you need a new laptop, Prime Day is a no-brainer. Just make sure you set a budget for yourself and stick to it. There may be a chance that better offers come later during Black Friday, but Prime Day deals are often every bit as good and allow you to enjoy a new laptop in the summer rather than having to wait until the holiday season. Just make sure you’ve done your research and checked out our best laptops guide and best laptop brands guide so you know what to look for.
